ITEM FEATURES

Easy Floor Maintenance Midwest’s Shur-Lok mechanism with Easy-Clean, intermediate locking feature automatically secures the unit in the opened position to ensure safe use by your students and staff.   Moving the tables for floor cleaning is easier than ever with the Easy-Clean feature.  Simply raise the center of the units lightly until the casters contact the floor, engage the Easy-Clean lock and move the unit out of the way.   Your staff will save time and back strain every day your Midwest tables are in use.

Heavy Duty Casters Heavy-duty 1 3/8" wide, 4" diameter swivel casters feature crowned shaped, non-making polyoefin wheels for improved handling and reduced floor maintenance.

Auto Safety Lock Shur-Lok, automatic locks prevent accidental folding when mobile tables are in use. The closed position lock safely secures tables for storage and transport.

Intermediate Lock Midwest’s exclusive Easy-Clean feature saves time and reduces the potential for back strain. Activating the concealed latch after raising the center of the unit from the floor, prevents the unit from opening, while enabling casters to contact the floor for complete mobility. Mobile Stool Units can then be easily moved for floor maintenance or repositioning.

OPTIONAL UPGRADES

PLYWOOD CORE TOP For maximum durability, all units are furnished with 3/4" thick plywood core benches. Plywood can take the punishment your tables will receive over many years of institutional use.

PERMA TUFF Epoxy Edge molding chemically bonds to the edge of the table and seat - enhancing sanitation by sealing out liquid and debris.  Highly recommended for educational and correctional environments because it cannot be pealed or pried away, PermaTuff greatly improves the durablity and longevity of the table.

Mobile Chair Units Specifications

GENERAL
Folding, mobile cafeteria tables with attached benches shall have a top surface measuring approximately 30" wide and {OPTIONAL: 12’-1" or 10’-1" or 8’-1"} long. The top surface shall be {OPTIONAL: 29" or 27"} high when open for use. Each bench unit shall have four benches that simultaneously fold open for use with the table. Bench units shall meet the following specifications.

ENTRANCES
Each bench unit shall have six walk-in entrances. Benches shall be attached to the table structure in a manner that does not significantly obstruct the user from entering the bench unit from the ends or in the center, between the benches. Any metal components located near the floor, where feet may easily come into contact with them, must be chrome plated. All other metal frame components are to be epoxy powdercoated.

LOCKING
A gravity lock shall firmly lock the table in the open position and must be capable of operation from both sides of the table. The lock rod shall be 7/16" diameter and chrome plated to resist wear. The table shall also be furnished with an intermediate position lock to allow units to be secured in a partially folded position for easier and faster movement during floor maintenance activities.

TABLE AND BENCH TOPS

• OPTION 1: (Vinyl molding, on particleboard core)
  Tops shall consist of high pressure plastic laminate bonded to a 5/8" minimum thick, 47 lb. particleboard core, sealed on the underside with a phenolic sheet. Edges of tops shall be banded with vinyl T molding, secured by staples to the top’s underside approximately every 10".
• OPTION 2: (PermaTuff™ edge, on particleboard core)
  Tops shall consist of high pressure plastic laminate bonded to a 5/8" minimum thick, 47 lb. particleboard core, sealed on the underside with a high pressure plastic laminate sheet. Edges of tops shall be protected with a polyurethane epoxy resin, chemically bonded to the edges of the plastic laminate, core material and backing sheet.
• OPTION 3: (PermaTuff™ edge, on plywood core)
  Tops shall consist of high pressure plastic laminate bonded to a ¾" minimum thick, AC grade, plywood core, sealed on the underside with a high pressure plastic laminate sheet. Edges of tops shall be protected with a polyurethane epoxy resin, chemically bonded to the edges of the plastic laminate, core material and backing sheet.

TABLE TOP SUPPORT
Each top shall be supported by two 1-7/8" deep, 14 gauge steel frames. Frames shall contain no holes greater than ½" diameter and shall be capped with riveted plastic bumpers. Each top shall be supported width-wise in at least two places.

BENCHES
Benches shall be supported lengthwise, near their edges, with 1¼" deep steel channels and a support of equal or greater strength.

LEG ASSEMBLIES
Vertical tubes supporting the benches, as well as the horizontal tubes connecting the bench supports to the table legs, shall be constructed of 1¼" diameter, 14 gauge steel tubing with 11 gauge tubing used on the base of the end leg assemblies. All other tubular components shall be of 1.05" diameter, 14 gauge steel tubing, or structural members of equal or greater bending strength.

CASTERS
Casters shall be heavy-duty, double ball-bearing type with a minimum rated load capacity of 275 lbs. each. Casters shall have hard rubber, non-marking wheels 4" diameter x 1¼" wide.

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS
Bench units shall be safety tested and listed by Underwriter’s Laboratories, Inc. Bench units must display UL labels with a valid UL file number.

When the bench unit is open for use, all casters shall lift from the floor automatically so that the table won’t roll. Casters that protrude beyond the end of the bench unit (when open for use) are prohibited, to prevent tripping hazards.

Bench units shall have no moving parts that can pinch, cut or pierce the operator’s hands while the table is being folded up or down. There shall be a gap between the table and bench tops of at least ¾" to prevent pinched fingers.

WARRANTY
Mobile Bench Units shall be covered by a 10-year warranty.
